ALF Core Training – Introduction

ALF Core training is a course for anyone who wants to become an administrator in any ALF in Florida. The ALF Core Training courses are required to be completed before you take the state competency exam to qualify for the assisted living administrator certificate.

Assisted living administrators and managers are licensed by the Department of Elder Affairs for the State of Florida Department. To become an Assisted Living Facility Administrators or Manager you must complete this required 26 hour online ALF Core Training and successfully pass the state CORE Competency Exam according to Chapter 59a-36, Florida Administrative Code. The exam is administered by the University of South Florida (USF) and is 100 questions long which requires a passing grade of at least 75%.

(1) Online ALF Core Training
(2) Classroom ALF Core Training

Our ALF Core Training course is designed for learners to become assisted living facility administrators. ALF Administrators and managers are licensed by the Department of Elder Affairs for the State of Florida Department. To become an Assisted Living Facility Administrator or Manager you must complete this required 26 hour ALF CORE Training course and successfully pass the state CORE Competency Exam according to Chapter 59a-36, Florida Administrative Code.

In accordance with Florida Statute 429.52 and Florida Administrative Code 59A-36.011, this training course will guide each individual with the knowledge needed for taking the state-mandated competency exam.

Our training is interactive and informative and is designed to prepare participants to successfully complete the ALF Administrator competency exam. After passing the core competency exam, you will be a licensed assisted living administrator. Our core training courses are approved by the Department of Elder Affairs. Even more, our course includes downloadable course materials, module quizzes, test prep questions, and individual support.

Assisted Living Facility Core Competency Test

The MacDonald Research Institute (TMRI) administers the ALF Core Competency Test for the State of Florida. Upon completion of the 26-hour ALF Core Training course, you will need to register with TMRI as soon as possible to sit for the ALF Core Competency Test. The fee for the exam is $200 and is payable to TMRI.

The Assisted Living Facility Core Competency Test contains multiple-choice questions with four possible choices. Examinees have a total of 2 hours to complete the test. Visit TMRI to view the ALF Core Competency Test schedule and locations.
